Sagewood was built in 1972 on fee simple land. It features two and three bedroom, single story units ranging in size from 1,050 to 1,250 square feet. Some units are provided with two car garages, others have carports. Sales prices this year have ranged from $89,000 to $149,000. The community was developed at a time when land was relatively inexpensive. As a result and by comparison with many similarly priced projects, Sagewood’s best feature is an unusually generous greenbelt. The units are laid out in a park like setting and residents enjoy a spacious feeling as they walk the grounds. Amenities include three pools and spas and a tennis court. Sagewood’s mature landscaping and obviously high level of maintenance provide an atmosphere of permanence and stability. This is well earned, since it is indeed matched by the strong financial position of the homeowners association, including well-funded reserves. The association is governed by a 7-member Board of Directors, which meets monthly under the leadership of President Ed Dietrich. The Board is constantly looking for ways to improve the attraction and the strength of the association and its competitive position in the Palm Springs condo marketplace. With energy cost concerns still a major factor, the Board currently has under consideration a proposal to utilize and adapt the shade structures at the swimming pools to support and conceal solar heating equipment. Also in contemplation and under discussion is the complete reconstruction of the association’s streets. The Monarch Group assists the Board with management services. Barbara oversees the efforts of Scotch Gardeners for landscaping; Valley Pools for pool service; LaSalle Electric & Lighting for lighting maintenance; and Dewey for pest control. Sagewood is one of those unsung association’s, where everything well under control – little to report.
